This page introduces Dr. Andrew Xxxxx's medical career and medical practice experience. Dr Xxxxx has been involved in Public Health "Service Delivery" projects for the Divisions of General Practice for many years, with subjects as diverse as stroke support, computer upskilling, and diabetes education and care. This is summarised in the Biography section. He has been active in publishing or presenting a number of articles in journals, newspapers and other media. Topics covered include ageing, chronic fatigue, Paill Spectrum and Schistosomiasis.
Doctor Andrew Xxxxx
Andrew Xxxxx was born of immigrant parents in Brisbane, Australia. He was the Dux of his secondary school college in 1978. He studied at the University of Queensland, graduating in Medicine (MBBS) in 1984. Star Sign: Sagittarius

His experience in these organisations has been in the development; write up, budgeting and management of health service delivery projects. He has been instrumental in winning large scale competitive funding for projects over his career in these organisations.
Project Applications cover experiences in a number of diverse areas relevant to the health sector. For example
The work in these areas has involved substantial marketing to GPs, running functions for GPs and contact with the interests and problems of many service providers in the health sector.
Dr. Xxxxx has maintained an interest in the management of chronic fatigue symptoms in patients. This has been supported by the semi-isolated nature of his first practice in Holland Park, allowing him to look after many of the same people for the 15 years he has been in practice in this suburb.
Registered Medical Practitioner working in a Brisbane Practice 1988-2006+
Positions:
I have been involved with a substantial number of organisations in the health sector. The bulk of my work outside my practice is with the Divisions of General Practice. The Divisions of General practice are predominantly government-funded organisations involved in the delivery of health services both to the general practitioner community and to the general population. I have had a substantial role in the programs delivering these health services.
Other roles include:
(Further information about Dr. Xxxxx's medical work including published articles can be found on the References Page). As a family doctor, I have worked in the same area for 16 years. I have looked after some of my patients and their families, for all of those same 16 years.
I first developed an appreciation of the problems faced by patients with chronic fatigue, from some of my loyal long-term patients. They would come back, time after time, to tell me that they did not feel quite well. Often they would tell me that they were quite tired. My approach to these problems was very traditional. Diagnose and treat common and well-known medical problems first. Nutritional and hormonal therapies were mainstays of my patients' treatments. These usually worked well. The chronic fatigue seemed often to improve.
.
One of the things that struck me the most over many years, was that some patients would become a bit better and the occasional patient would become a lot better, often with the same type and extent of treatment.
.
Eventually, one persistent patient kept asking me repeatedly, to help her become better. I eventually treated her condition successfully. Unbeknownst to me at the time, this was my first realisation that a condition such as Paill Spectrum may exist.
Subsequently, I have found more patients fitting the syndrome model, one by one, (or my patients have found me). My criteria for identifying this illness, were very basic at first. With time and experience, I recognised more symptoms and became aware that this condition was actually very common. As I treated people, I was surprised to find a case that had developed symptoms that seemed similar to a psychiatric illness. At this time, I realised that Paill Spectrum could affect nerves anywhere inside the body. In my continuing work to help my patients become well, I have developed the Paill Spectrum Syndrome model and defined how to treat Paill Spectrum, through my own personal experiences with patients.
I have found that although the model gives a radical new look at many old medical conditions, it fits well with the known facts. The model also allows many new predictions to be made about other symptoms and signs of illness that will be found if people are warned to look for them. It also predicts a range of hitherto unsuspected long term consequences of illness. ;-[

People suffering from chest and elbow pain, loss of balance, dizziness, memory loss, irritability, sweaty palms and chronic fatigue may have a contagious disease recently discovered in the southeast.
A Camp Hill general practitioner has identified the disease, along with a way to diagnose and cure it.
In the 15 years Dr. Andrew Xxxxx of Samuel Street Medical Centre has worked in the area, he realised a number of patients were coming to him with similar symptoms.
He would sort out one illness only to have them return with another illness.

The woman said her boyfriend was getting lost in shopping centres, Dr. Xxxxx said.” He had twenty reminders programmed in his phone to remember what he had to do the next day. After I treated him, his violence was gone. He was not using his phone (for reminders) any more."
Dr. Xxxxx believed the disease was caused by a bacterial organism and spread through the respiratory system. He identifies it through a blood test. The treatment, he said "was easy".
Dr. Xxxxx treats his patients with a combination of a broad spectrum multivitamins, a wheat free diet and courses of antibiotics. Over three or four months the results were amazing, he said
Dr. Xxxxx has set up a website, www.quizdoc.com to inform people of his discovery. Samuel Street Medical is at 31 Samuel St., Camp Hill - Phone 3398 6233 :-]
Letter to the Editor:Discovering the role of Oncogenes in Cancer may well be the first step in the control of the disease. The importance of the enzyme telomerase in regulating the growth of normal and cancerous cells might be the key to developing specific drugs that turn this enzyme on and off and render cancer cells mortal. And perhaps drugs will be developed that render normal cells immortal? Could this be the first step towards realizing mankind's dream to live forever? Can we look forward not only to living as long as Methuselah, but also to staying young as well?

The PaillSpectrum Syndrome & Disease Model represents the personal work of Dr. Andrew Xxxxx. It will be some time before the knowledge of the syndrome becomes independently tested and accepted. Until then, you must make up your own mind based on what you see and learn yourself. :-|
Show me some of the other things the author has written.
Schistosomiasis In Australia
In 1999, Dr. Xxxxx along with his colleague Dr. Rosengren alerted the local medical community to the presence of Schistosomiasis amongst Somali (African) refugees. Schistosomiasis is a tropical disease which is unknown in Australia. It is generally accepted that a vector for the disease does not exist in Australia, so the disease is unable to spread. Dr. Xxxxx appeared in an interview on a Current Affairs Program on Channel 7 TV in 1999. Dr. Rosengren published an article in the Australia Doctor Weekly on the issue. Both doctors sought official recognition of the scope of the problem, in a letter (November 8, 1999), to the Federal Health Minister at the time. Schistosomiasis along with many other chronic diseases often makes people sick and tired.

I saw one patient who said they were sick and tired of being sick and tired,” he said.
Eventually a pattern emerged. Dr. Xxxxx has named it Paill (pain and illness) Spectrum.
"Most people have several symptoms out of the cluster," he said.
He said some symptoms developed over time and were less noticeable to the patient, but painful areas are quite painful and easy to identify.
"I had a guy in come in with irritability and violence. His girlfriend said his memory had gone."

He worked within the public hospital system in Royal Brisbane Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital. From an early time, he professed a commitment to general practice medicine due to the breadth and variety of experiences he looked forward to encountering in this field. This early commitment to a career path allowed him to receive training in diverse general fields such as emergency medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry and general medicine.
After a short time locuming, he entered medical practice in Holland Park where he subsequently worked for 15 years, from 1988. He recently moved practice to a nearby suburb at Camp Hill. Over the years in various relocations of his home address, he has become an adroit builder and renovator.
He has been involved with a substantial number of organisations in the health sector. The bulk of his work outside his practice has been in an executive role with the Divisions of General Practice. These are government-funded organisations involved in the delivery of health services, both to the general practitioner community and to the general population. He served as President of Brisbane Southside Central Division of General Practice for several years and as Medical Director at Brisbane Inner South Division of General Practice for one year.
