as an impaired ability to learn new information or being unable to recall previously learned information.
The memory disturbance must not be in context of delirium or dementia.

Confabulation: which is the reporting of imaginary events to fill gaps in memory, may be noted in early stages of amnestic disorders, but tends to disappear in more advanced or prolonged forms of the illness.

Causes of the Amnesia Like Disorders (Amnestic Disorders)

The main accepted causes of amnestic disorders includes substance use and medical conditions affecting the structure and function of the brain. There are still a large number of people who under the currently accepted model of this illness do not have a recognizable. or diagnosable cause of their illness.

The Causation of Amnesia like disorders,

Impulsive behaviour: stupid things done for stupid reasons, occasionally causing harmful social or legal consequences.

“Crisis: events: Previously well people rapidly (acutely) become symptomatic and ill. An aspect of their normal function, deteriorates, with the affected persons showing evidence of some deficit or deterioration, from their previously normal level of functioning.

Memory loss is often severe and prolonged. One person reported that their partner of six months woke up one morning and asked them who they were. The “facies” (facial appearance), of the person in crisis is quite distinctive. They have a flat unresponsive appearance, often with a dearth (paucity) of speech.
