Case 5: Comments 1
Gone berserk for no obvious reason, destroyed many of their belongings.
This represents a “rage” presentation. It is a common feature in badly affected patients: be it road rage, trolley rage, register rage, arguments with their family. It simply represents an extreme form of irritability and loss of Judgement: failing to understand the consequences of the actions, the person is undertaking. Ie arguing severely with people such as showing rage, will invite police attention, psychiatric attention and probably medication. In any case, people may be hurt. The people usually say they did not intend to hurt anyone.
Woken up one morning in his home with his partner and had been unable to remember who she was. He did not remember that he had any relationship with this partner. He could not describe what he had done on most days in the last week. He described most of his memories as fuzzy. He showed me his phone that he had programmed with his reminders. He actually had 20 reminders entered in so that he could remember things that he was supposed to do tomorrow. He described being lost in the local shopping centre and being unable to get out of the building.
Memory problems are common in these patients, though usually the symptoms are much milder than this severe deficit. Most people just forget to do things, get lost in unusual circumstances such as I driving home along the same road that they have driven home along for the last few years. Some people present with memory loss or amnesia, again this being a much more severe variant of the usual problem.
Very tired
Restless with his sleep, being unable to sleep more than 4 hours a night.
Episodes of spins and dizziness, He was quite unsteady in walking with his eyes closed.
Bad headaches
Typical Paill Spectrum symptoms, the dizziness, and the chronic fatigue being then most distinctive.
It becomes obvious that most people are well aware of the symptoms that they have. There just has been no explanation of the symptoms to date and no way of treating them. The Paill Spectrum treatment protocol works well to alleviate many of these symptoms (some symptoms are harder to relieve than others of course: such as dizziness). The changes are obvious to the person, their partners, or relatives and to the patients’ doctor usually within a couple of weeks once treatment has been instituted. Changes are subtle yet very definite and slow in developing.
