Report presented to the doctor: Female, Grade 1 at 5 years and six months of age
Her dominant learning channel is Kinaesthetic.
She had difficulty matching word and letter shapes. This relates to the difficulty with visual discrimination.
Paill Spectrum predominantly affects symbolic speech processing. This means that initially visual > auditory speech symbol recognition is affected. In severely affected individuals, this only leaves the touch and feel mode of input unaffected by the disease process. It is a real experience to watch a Paill Spectrum dyslexic child struggle to write down a number sequence. You can almost see all the mental wheels in motion as the child struggles to bring new parts of the brain to help with the struggle of processing the speech symbols in learning. You begin to realise just how severe the problem can be for badly affected individuals.
