Paill Spectrum children often have very few physical signs of illness. The physical symptoms may be present but may well be very subtle indeed. A severe illness takes time to develop, so very few “body” symptoms are likely to be present. One common and distinctive symptom is children with growing pains at night. These children typically have pains so severe that they cry at night and are unable to sleep. Yet, they run around with gay abandon throughout the daytime frustrating their parents and their doctors who cannot work out what is wrong with them. The characteristic blood tests patterns are starting to form, but may not be fully present also.
