Quizdoc Cases 3
Case III

Case III

This man presented acutely ill, barely able to communicate.  He was irritable and "lazy", but not depressed.  With Paill Spectrum treatment, he started to work again and to talk freely.  These people look they are developing amnesia.  Family members easily notice behaviour change with illness and with treatment.

Blanking Effect :
This patient has an acute "first wave" brain injury with a "blanking" effect typical of PaillSpectrum infection. There is suspicion of possible "2nd wave" brain involvement with the loss of ability to speak in the acute phase. The patient recovered very well on antibiotic therapy and resumed his normal life.

Often sadly misinterpreted as depression

1st September, 2003 Back to top
Presented acutely ill, in the company of his wife

There is a 4 day history of : irritability, personality change: he has been staring and not answering.

He is
aggressive to family members which is totally out of character
He complains of headache
Yesterday, he had trouble keeping awake

He is
not understanding any conversations around him
He has had some trouble reading : words are jumbled
He apparently could not hear or seemed to act like he was not hearing things said around him.

The wife was worried enough about him to take him to hospital, but they gave up after a 5 hour wait.
They went to another Medical centre. Here he had a CT scan of his head. This was reported to me by the patient and his wife as being normal.

A similar event happened about three years ago. It faded over a few days.

CD Book Information
Answers to case questions will appear on our CD Book:
"Closing the Circle - The PaillSpectrum Story", *:-] planned for release in Early 2008.

  • This CD "Book" is written for any audience: both the general public or medical personnel.  It includes a "basic" description of the PaillSpectrum Syndrome.  It describes how a doctor may assess patients with chronic fatigue, which blood tests may be done and how patients with chronic fatigue may be managed.
  • It describes a range of medical conditions that in their own right may cause symptoms of chronic fatigue.

  • It introduces the brain syndromes, that the Paill Spectrum model predicts may be associated with PaillSpectrum infection.
  • It concludes with the author's musing about life on earth with and without Paill Spectrum, and a plan for our future without PaillSpectrum. Order CD !

There is another CD Book with much more specific medical detail called
"Closing the Circle: Diagnostic and Treatment Manual", *:-] also planned for release in early 2008.
  • This CD "Book" is written for the person who wishes to obtain more detailed knowledge of the PaillSpectrum Syndrome.  There are detailed descriptions of all the symptoms and signs.  There is an in depth assessment of treatment strategies.
  • This CD is predominately intended as an adjunct to the
"Closing the Circle: The PaillSpectrum Story" CD, but is a standalone book in its own right. Order CD !
  • The CD allows people to assess Paill Spectrum symptoms to a "medical" level.  That is it allows people to decide when a symptom is a PaillSpectrum symptom and when it is not. Back to top
